Run from USB stick?

Postby MonBidoux » Mon May 26, 2008 4:13 am

PE is way to small for the amount of messages i now have.

Is it possible to load Barca and have it run from a USB stick?

Never tried, although i think it would be possible.
The only problem is that you'll be running it unregistered, since it's not meant to run from a USB-stick.

Why not give MyInfoTogo a try, which is about the same as Barca :?:

Ya, why not try MITG?

Looking at the image i thought it was a USB stick and program together.

Can it import Barca data file and config?

Nope, you'll have to buy the USB-stick and put MITG on it.

Yes, just perfom in Import > Data from previous install and point to barca.ini.
Uncheck those you don't want in the import screen.

Or you could simply copy it over. 8)

Eric,

Tried to install MITG on a Kingston usb device (4G) but it seems you need a special one from u3.com

Guess they have to make things complicated.

If you don't have a U3-stick, you can download the Non-U3 USB Drive. :)
I've tried both of them already and settled on the U3-version.

Not complicated, just install the right one.

Eric,

It's up and running!
Loads pretty fast (almost as fast as AVANT browser for usb) too!
Just one worry, if i want to keep on using Barca and want the data file to be the same, i suppose the backup location should be the same right?
Right now, (after successfully importing Barca data) i've set MITG to backup to usb. Would it be best to have it backup to same location as Barca if i want to have same Calendar, Notes etc.?

Good to hear. :D

I wouldn't do that.
You can backup your MITG data on your USB and also on your HD (other location than Barca). In case your USB-key doesn't work anymore, you'll still have your data.

There's also the possibility to sync your data with Barca, although I never use that.
I only use it when on the road, but mail stays on the server until I get home to check my mail. 8)
