Poco Filter FAQ - Matching on the from line

Q:I've noticed that a lot of junk mail comes in with an alias along with the actual email address, eg:

Alias the spammer wants you to see <somebody@address.com>

A lot of the aliases end up being awfully familiar after a while even though the actual email address changes from time to time. If I put the alias into the junk mail banned senders list will it match, or do I have to use regular email addresses?

What about filters, will they match aliases or just the actual email address?

Both junkmail and filter matches are by default 'contains' filters, so that you don't have to use a real email address. You can use the name text.
